Transporting damaged and non running vehicles

We often get asked about transporting damaged or non-running cars and vehicles.  Often people have purchased an old project restoration interstate and need to get it moved or the vehicle needs to be transported to repairers or out of an auction yard.  Here are some key tips to help:

  1. If you have a vehicle coming out of an auction yard, make sure you advise us at the time of quoting as not all carriers will collect from the auctions.  We will need to know whether your vehicle is coming out of a salvage area or what exact damage it has (eg. hail damage, major dents, missing or cracked panels, smashed/cracked/stone chipped windows etc).  All of this can affect the price and also the vehicle that is sent into the auction yard to collect the vehicle.
  2. If your vehicle has any major damage (regardless or where it is collected from), we are going to need to see photo of your car with the damage before we are able to send out a quote.  Some damage may be too extreme for our carriers to transport
  3. Minor damage, such as light scratches and small dents will not be an issue, however, if your windows/windscreen are cracked, smashed or shipped only certain carriers will transport your vehicle.  Please tell us at the quoting stage so that we can quote you accurately and accordingly.  If a booking is made and the truck goes out to collect the vehicle and it has damage there may be further charges such as futile and cancellation fees issued.  It's always best to be upfront about this at the quoting stage and we can take the rest from there!

Please remeber, that our drivers will not attempt to jump start vehicles so if your car has a flat battery, it will most probably be easier and cheaper for you to get it replaced before transporting.  Although it's 'only' a flat battery, the car will be deemed as non-running. If you have not notified us of this, and we arrive for collection extra fees will be charged.

If you are unsure it's better to be safe than sorry.  Give us a call and we will be more than happy to help you out!
